So the 2nd team finally get their new year going after 2 weather hit weekends and the end of the 'silly season', which now means more competitive games.

Sandbach started the game like a train with a turn over ball in the first few minutes, a break from the backs and then sustained pressure from the forwards which resulted in prop Mike Potts diving over for a try.
This was soon followed by a penalty from Andy Rollings before Chester scored a try of their own.
An offside decision gave Andy Rollings chance to score his second penalty before going off with a groin injury to be replaced by Nathan Warburton playing his first game of the season.
George Bordill also entered the fray in his usual number 8 position
The home side scored a second try just before half time to make the score 10 -11.

The second half was very even for quite a while but slowly the play seemed to be tilting more the Chester way and after a few phases close to the Sandbach line the Chester winger found a gap and was over to put them in the lead ( 17 - 11 )

Again the game was 'even Stevens' with both sides plugging away and making occasional breaks, Sandbach got to with 3 points from a Bordill penalty, but then 2 late tries from Chester sealed what was an entertaining and hard fought game.

Sandbach can take a great deal from this match everyone gave 100% for the full 80 minutes, we had 5 colts, non who looked out of place at this level and I'm sure will be challenging for 1st team places in the future, a few welcome players coming back to the club and a couple of lads stepping up from the 3rds, giving everything they had, so they can all feel they earned their post game pint ( or two )

Next week we play Vale of Lune at home, so with the same kind of attitude and commitment I'm sure we can come away with a win.
